Rolls-Royce UI Case
Overview
The dashboard includes a branded loading screen, a home screen, a vehicle section, and a maps section. I designed the interface around core driver-facing needs: quick navigation, environmental information, media controls, vehicle visuals, and location-based context.
Goal
My goal was to create a simple, polished interface that felt calm, premium, and easy to understand at a glance. Because automotive dashboards are used in high-attention environments, I wanted the design to feel minimal rather than crowded, with clear sections and large visual elements.
My Role
I created the visual design, layout, interaction flow, and overall dashboard concept. This was a lightweight personal project, so I focused more on interface direction and brand-inspired exploration than deep UX research.
Design Approach
I used a clean layout, strong contrast, large imagery, and simple navigation to create a dashboard experience that felt refined and direct. The main screens were designed to give users access to key areas without requiring too many steps.
The concept includes:
A branded startup/loading screen
A home dashboard with vehicle imagery, weather, and media controls
A vehicle-focused screen for exploring car visuals
A map screen with commute and destination information
Simple navigation between dashboard sections
What I Explored
This project helped me think about how automotive interfaces balance beauty, clarity, and function. A car dashboard has to communicate quickly while still feeling connected to the identity of the vehicle. I focused on making the interface feel visually elegant, easy to scan, and not overly complex.
What I Learned
Through this project, I gained a better understanding of how digital product design changes in an automotive context. Unlike a standard app or website, a dashboard has to consider attention, glanceability, and simplicity more carefully. If I expanded this project, I would develop more detailed user flows, accessibility considerations, safety constraints, vehicle status features, and voice-based interactions.
